Product Description
Eau de Parfum
Dark Galleon • Smoky • Exotic
Board a Japanese galleon in January 1618 as it plows through dark Pacific currents, loaded with rare treasures from Asia, Europe and the Americas. Fresh from a diplomatic mission to the West, the ship’s hull exudes the aromas of tropical woods, Spanish leather, frankincense and ground spices like Malabar black pepper and saffron. Nanban captures this singular voyage: an intoxicating incense‑and‑leather scent with a spicy, sensual opening and a lush, robust incense base.
Fragrance Story
A delegation of samurai is returning home after visiting Europe, Mexico and the Philippines. In the gloom below decks, crates hold coffee, cacao, carved wood, silver, fine oil paintings and exotic spices. The air hums with the smoky sweetness of frankincense and myrrh, the bitterness of black tea and coffee absolute, and the animal warmth of Spanish leather. This historic transoceanic journey—the last of its kind before Japan closed its borders—inspires Nanban, uniting East and West and evoking the dark hull of a galleon filled with wonders.
